A synff listening archetype

Connoisseur

Periphery · Focused · Discerning · Visceral

Your taste is focused on an unusual musical world, and even there you are difficult to persuade. You respond through instinct as much as judgement, feeling quickly when an album has the necessary weight. Obscurity opens the door, but quality still decides what matters.

You know within a side. Something in the weight of a record either answers or it does not, and no description, review, or reputation can substitute for that answer. What passes gets real permanence: played across years, in particular moods, for particular rooms. What fails is released without regret. There is no maybe pile.

The instinct is the gift: your approval is fast, physical, and almost never wrong by your own lights. The risk is starvation by refinement, a bar so exact that little clears it. What changes things is provenance: records vouched for by the ones you already love get their fair minute, and a fair minute is usually all you need.

Find yours.
