Sleater‐Kinney

Sleater Kinney is an American rock band characterized by the striking vocal and guitar interplay between Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein.

Since forming in Olympia, Washington, the group has evolved from the raw, incendiary energy of the riot grrrl movement into a more ambitious musicality that blends indie rock with classic rock revisionism. Their sound is defined by the friction of Tucker's powerful vibrato against Brownstein's monotone delivery, often layered over complex guitar work and assertive rhythms. Long known for their feminist and progressive politics, the band has navigated transitions in their lineup, including the 2019 departure of drummer Janet Weiss.
